The Role:

Plusgrade is searching for an experienced Compliance Manager with familiarity in highly regulated industries to drive ongoing compliance with applicable frameworks and certifications. This role will represent Plusgrade externally on relevant topics, report directly to Plusgrade’s SVP Finance, and their work product will form an important component of executive leadership reporting.


  • Act as a Data Protection Officer on behalf of the company;
  • Implement, manage, maintain and own  Plusgrade’s ongoing compliance with with frameworks such as EU GDPR, PIPEDA, CASL, PCI DSS and others;
  • Report on compliance activities to Plusgrade’s executive leadership and Plusgrade’s audit committee;
  • Foster a data protection culture within the Plusgrade and help to implement essential elements of the GDPR and related data privacy and security regulations, such as the principles of data processing, data subjects’ rights, data protection by design and by default, records of processing activities, security of processing, and notification and communication of data breaches;
  • Collaborate with Business Partners and works cross-functionally with departmental team members to achieve compliance needs;
  • Develop metrics to report on privacy and other relevant compliance performance;
  • Monitor and report on required corrective action plans relating to compliance issues or compliance audit deficiencies or observations;
  • Inform and advise the organization and its employees about their obligations to comply with the GDPR and other data protection laws;
  • Build curriculum and train team members through the broader organization on compliance commitments and internal compliance audits.


  • BA/BS or equivalent practical experience;
  • Expertise in national and international  data protection laws, including an in-depth understanding of the EU GDPR, EU Model Clauses, PIPEDA and CASL;
  • 5 years of experience in data protection program management including established and/or emerging compliance programs preferred (GDPR, etc.);
  • Knowledge of the business sector and ability to promote a data protection culture within the organization;
  • Experience in operations within a PCI DSS Level 1 compliant environment
  • Field experience in leading multiple privacy audits and/or compliance initiatives, preferably in large audit firms;
  • Familiarity with privacy and security risk assessment and best practices, privacy certifications/seals, and information security standards certifications;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the highest levels of management and decision-making within the organization, data subjects, data protection authorities and other controllers and processors across national boundaries and cultures;
  • Adequate self-awareness and confidence to acknowledge knowledge gaps and seek to fill them from reliable sources;
  • Integrity and high professional ethics;
  • Ability to handle information and business affairs with secrecy and confidentiality as appropriate;
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience;
  • Law degree or relevant legal experience a plus;
  • Self-starter and ability to act independently;
  • Ability to travel.
